If your vehicle has an Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), a computer controls your brakes to pump them very quickly, so your brakes don’t lock up and send you into a skid. The front brakes take on most of the force when you brake. The weight of the vehicle is thrown towards the front every time you apply the brakes. This force eventually wears down the friction materials and you need to have the pads or shoes replaced so you are safe once again.
